Blanton is an excellent athlete and he is only a Freshman. He is a young, developing player that posses a lot of speed. As an outfielder, Blanton has a very good "first step" and shows the ability to track balls into the gaps with significant skill. He is aggressive, steady and a very smart player. He knows what to do with the ball when he gets it and as a result, opposing runners do not move up on him. Blanton has a strong accurate arm the will only get better as he matures into the outstanding ball player that he is becoming. As a pitcher, Blanton shows signs of becoming one of the best on Lee Summit High School's staff. His velosity is increasing as he grows and already appears to be very accurate controling the ball. Again, he is a very smart, hard working player with a great future! As a hitter, Blanton shows very good mechanics as a young hitter! He stays balanced - keeps his weight back and explodes into the ball. Blanton is going to be a gap to gap hitter with occasional power. He stays through the middle very well and will keep getting better as he learns count and pitch recognition! More to come as Blanton gets older!
